Visit to Pecs and Siklos

This month we visited some places in the lower part of Hungary. We first we to Siklos which is a small castle town very close to the border of Croatia. The castle was beautiful, but unfortunetly closed for renovations. So we were only able to walk around the outside of it. But it was really interesting as we walked around we noticed local people just enjoying their day on the castle grounds. There were kids playing soccer in the grassy courtyard. Some girls sitting in the castle wall talking. People eating lunch and relaxing. How neat would it be to just be able to walk out your front door up the hill to an old, almost deserted castle and eat lunch and enjoy the day? I have never lived in such a place. I'm sure to them it is just normal, but to me, I found it fascinating and would love to live in a place like that. So even though the castle was closed, it was still neat to see.

Then we made our way to Pecs, one of the other major cities in Hungary. It was a charming little town with a large beautiful church in the center. We walked through it and had some dinner and ice cream and enjoyed ending the day there. It was really nice to see a new part of Hungary we had never seen before.
